Going to the Border with Dr. Shayna Cooke
In this episode, we speak with Dr. Shayna Cooke, the Director of Educator Development with the World Leadership School (WLS). She is responsible for cultivating a rich environment for faculty development throughout WLS's network of independent and charter schools. She links faculty teaching excellence to student success, advances the scholarship of teaching and learning and evidence-based instructional practices, and advocates for teaching and learning environments that maximize opportunities for all students and faculty to be successful. She has over 17 years of experience in the field of education.
Today she walks us through her experience in taking teachers to the US/Mexico border in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Her organization, WLS, partnered with another organization, Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG), to provide this opportunity to teachers as part of their Border Immersion and Immigration Education program.
